Terrible guide
Joshua_H
, Aug 2022
The sites and locations were amazing but as for the tour it was terrible. Our guide was basically running and when we went through security before the ferry, our guide didn't even let the whole group grt through the line. Me, my wife, and 2 other people were left behind. We ended up doing the tour ourselves and had a good time but the guide was useless and not worth the money we paid for the experience.

My family and I experienced an amazing tour of Liberty Island and Ellis Island via ferry boat ride. I highly recommend this excursion and if possible, have tour guide Charlie Meany lead the way. Charlie is very personable and extremely knowledgeable of both islands rich history.

Visitors are from all over the world. There should an option for translation during the tour. Lot of visitors are unable to follow English.

Scam

The ONLY reason you’re purchasing a viator tour is because the regular statue cruises time slots sold out, mostly because of companies like Viator. They’re charging almost three times as much as the standard statue city cruises rate for virtually no other service offered. Of course there’s a tour guide who attempts to offer extra insight and provide historical background, but there’s nothing the guide can really do to enrich the experience. The guide yells over the noise of the crowd to try to share historical facts you can look up on Wikipedia, and gives you tips on how to enjoy the boat ride better I guess. It’s all rather silly.

Great guide, horrible transportation
Ronald_W
, Aug 2022
We had an excellent guide. NYC should be ashamed using ferries no fit for cattle. Horrible benches , no air conditioning in 91 degree weather. Had to wait 25 min with the sun baking us to get back. They packed the boat such that we couldn’t find a place to sit.
icon Response from Host , Aug 2022
We're happy to hear you enjoyed the guide. It is a shame to receive this poor review for a ferry that has nothing to do with our company. There is only one boat that is allowed to dock on Liberty and Ellis Islands and it is run by Statue City Cruises. For your review to have an impact we would recommend leaving it on their page.

Learning about my past

My mom traveled here in 1947 with my then 2 yr old brother. To get an understanding of what that was like for her was eye opening for me and my children.

Absolute rip off
elitaeliades
, Aug 2022
Unfortunately this was an absolute rip off. The ferry tickets cost 24 dollars per person so please just buy them directly. I complained to the company and instead of addressing the issue they said that because we were a bit late( but caught up with the guide before embarking on the ferry) we did not experience the tour. The tour itself was only of liberty Island and eventhough the guide himself was ok it is in NO WAY worth the amount of money paid. I have booked experiences with viator all over the world and this has been the only negative experience. Additionally when trying to address this with the company they failed to take responsibility and falsely claimed that I degraded the guide and that we did not participate in the tour in order to avoid compensating.
icon Response from Host , Aug 2022
Ms. Elita Eliades, you are leaving this review in bad faith. You know full well you missed half of the tour because you were late. We also have no record of you joining a tour along the way and you are unable to even describe your guide let alone offer their name. For all we know you joined another company's tour. Regardless of having joined a different companies tour, the one thing that is true is that you were degrading in your language towards whatever guide you found along the way. It was shameful and continues to be so with this incorrect review. We had an in-depth conversation where you shared your offensive views and when asked what else could be done to mitigate your anger you did not respond. The only avoidance was on your end. In the future, if you show up for tours and events on time you will participate in the full experience. This is a great way to have an enjoyable time and avoid acting unkind towards others.

Casey was our tour guide and made it one of the best tours we have been on. Good information but not too much that it slowed the tour down.

Excellent Trip
Susan_B

The trip was organised well and the guide, Owen, was very knowledgeable and was very patient with answering questions from both the young and old. We learnt so much that we didn't know about the history on both islands. I would absolutely recommend this tour.

The tour was great and our guide, Jett had great tips for streamlining the experience and getting the best photos. If you are a history fan I would recommend getting the extended tour.
